What to Wear Wednesdays: Holiday Swag

By 1MommyMD.

It’s been an incredibly busy holiday season but one that was full of family, food and fun. Every year, for at least the past 35 years, my mom makes gumbo on Christmas Eve; seafood, chicken and veggie to accommodate the palates of every guest. This year was no different. Family and friends gathered, filled their bellies with food and delighted in each other’s presence. We listened to my mom read from Luke chapter 2, sang carols, played games and just enjoyed one another’s company.

After everyone departed to their various homes my nieces and nephews unpacked their stockings. Later, my mom, sister and I tackled a few remaining unwrapped presents while all of the little ones went to bed.

When Christmas morning arrived the children, dressed in their new Christmas PJs, were eager to open presents. My little one, opened presents with the help of one of her big cousins! Shortly thereafter, we all prepared for church and prepared to give thanks for the real meaning of Christmas.

Later on the feasting continued. We had a catered brunch, of made to order omelettes and waffles, that was delicious! Followed by a dinner of homemade soul food. Stretchy pants were made for days like these! We ate and ate until our hearts content. We laughed, played more games and enjoyed our family.

I’m grateful for family and friends ALL year long and am blessed to continue old traditions and forge new ones.

My holiday look is from past seasons. The pants are Old Navy Rockstar coated denim. The beautiful fit and flare peplum jacket is from Essential Elements on Chicago’s south side. The earrings are vintage.
As always, thanks for following!!

Be well,
Kiarra
