Fashion, trends, and accessories!
I LOVE a good romper! No need to fuss with multiple pieces of an outfit when you can get an effortless and chic look all in one. It’s even better when said romper is vintage with a modern flair. I love fashion for its ability to transcend an era. Today’s look is a 80s halter style romper with a beautiful palette that reminds me of watercolors. I paired it with some of my favorite marigold earrings and shoes.
What do you do with a little girl that loves her dresses? Fancy her in dresses! My daughter has always appreciated dresses and loves picking out new styles. Luckily, most of her ensembles are very affordable and don’t hurt mama’s pocket. This candy-striped sundress number was under $5 from our favorite place, H&M. She hand-picked her sandals from Old Navy.
Before we headed out for a Sunday birthday party, she posed by a flowerbed. We also visited a tractor that has been parked in our neighborhood for so long that my kids affectionately named him. Seeing as how Martin The Tractor didn’t seem to mind, we snapped a few quick pics with him too! See all her pics below.
When the wind is in your favor go with it! It was a pretty windy day when these pics were snapped but it worked perfectly for what I was wearing! Everything I’m wearing is past season. The printed culotte romper is from Target, the black sheer coverup is from Urban Outfitters and the necklace is from Charming Charlie.
This past weekend, I was honored to serve on my sister’s baby shower committee! Two babies, double trouble, double the sass. Now I love dress shopping, but I wanted to find the perfect number for this special occasion. I needed something that said elegant, sexy, sassy, and a little funky. This H&M dress said all of those things, so I scooped it up the moment I saw it! H&M does not have every line at every store, nor do they make every dress available online. But here is a link to some similar styles. The earrings are from Forever 21, and the gold pumps are Jessica Simpson, on clearance at DSW!
As I scrolled through pictures for today’s post this song, made famous by the incomparable Nina Simone, immediately came to mind.
Blue Skies, Denim & BOW Ties. I found this awesome jumpsuit a few months back and couldn’t wait to throw it on! It’s a lightweight one piece I snagged from asos.com. It’s simple and effortlessly chic! I paired it with another fabulous BOW tie from Meyelabel. THIS is how you wear a romper!!
I’m a sucker for a good find, be it at a department store, target or a vintage shop. The highlight of this look is a super cute thrifty find, current season, from my fave Forever 21! The options for the neon pink sheer frock are endless; it could be worn over jeans, shorts or a swimsuit to name a few! The royal blue tank is Forever 21 and the royal blue skirt is past season asos. The shoes are past season Steve Madden. Sunglasses are current season Aldo. Clutch is past season.
Nothing says spring like flowers or floral print. In the spirit of ushering in more beautiful weather I’ve donned a great floral wiggle dress. The fabric of this dress is a perfect weight and can be worn nearly year round with the right pairings. The dress is past season asos.com. One of the things I love about my wardrobe is that I can get a lot of wear out of the staples because they are so versatile. Additionally, below are a few ways to get more bang for your buck when it comes to styling.
I had the pleasure of attending my cousin and her now husband’s wedding in LA last weekend. The sunny skies and palm trees were a sight for sore eyes coming from Chicago! It was a great weekend reconnecting with family over the celebratory event.
I love black and white. The possibilities are endless. Any colors can be added, giving a vibrant pop to your look! So for this look, I paired a crisp eyelet blouse with dramatic ruffled sleeves and a black pencil skirt. A beautiful handcrafted bow by Meyelabel is the perfect compliment. A hand tied scarf and a pair of tribal inspired black and white pumps round out the look!
Resurrection Sunday my family and I dined for brunch at a lovely spot, in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on Chicago’s west side, called Inspiration Kitchens. Nestled just north of the Lake St. El, there is an outdoor garden as well as a beautiful trellis that frames the entryway. If you’re not familiar, “when you dine at Inspiration Kitchens… you’re supporting men and women who are learning in our kitchens and building the foundations to overcome homelessness and poverty and build a better future.
When I breastfed my babies I always covered up. I’m not as brave or body-positive as my mom friends that don’t care who sees or stares. For the most part I used a muslin blanket or nursing cover (get these discounted or FREE with coupon codes, just sign up for emails!). But which way is the best way to go? Let loose or cover up?
This look is what happens when you need a last minute outfit and Target comes through for the win! Their Who What Wear line has some really cute staple pieces that are chic and affordable. I wanted something that could easily be mixed with other items in my wardrobe and be comfy enough to wear to work that day. These pieces fit the bill; both are lightweight and easy to move in. An added bonus is the contrasting black and white patterns, the fine polka dots against the wide stripes make a statement! I would’ve loved to throw in a pop of color with my shoes but only had the pewter reptilian print pair, also target past season, with me.
I’ve partnered with the fabulous Samone Robinson, aka “The Chic Teach” of Shelltoes and Stilettos, bringing you a style concept from two like-minded fashion mavens. Samone has to be one of the flyest teachers I’ve ever known!! She is an inspiration to many, including the hundreds of students whose lives she has enriched over the years. Our collaboration, entitled Double Take, will display our interpretations of a particular clothing item or accessory.
